We appear to have gnats come in on the vegetables we bring in from either our garden outside or from the store. I hang fly paper everywhere, and I capture 30-50 gnats a week, but they keep coming back. The worst part is bringing home loaves of bread wrapped in plastic bags. You find gnats inside the plastic crawling all over the bread a day later!! The only solution is to freeze the bread when you get it. I will try the bleach suggestions above in the drains. I have noticed that when the temperature recently dropped below 60F outside the gnats went dormant - I took down all the fly paper, and when the temperature rose, the gnats came back.

I'm so sick of all the gnats... it seems like I get them knock down but never gone the as soon as you drop your guard they come back just as bad as before. We have 2yr old twins so the idea of a eco friendly spray would be a great solution. Hopefuly if the product works well it gets picked up by a retail chain so it easily obtained.

I have yet to begin battle, but I'm confident this will work, mostly because of the vinegar...
We had an infestation of fleas for months, we finally came across a website that gave us tons of different remedies involving vinegar, even pet safe mixtures we could bathe our pets in.
This simple everyday household treasure has become our new favorite thing, so I love that I can now tell my family that I have yet another use for it!
Thank you! :)

Ok, I have a huge gnat problem. I have tried the vinegar and caught a few. Poured boiling water down my drains and bleach too. Several times too. Closed and put towels at bottom of all doors to try and see where the gnats are breeding. The bug bombs are worthless.
I taped clear plastic over air ducts to see if I could possibly capture them in my air ducts. Not one was captured.
Local pest control company was called in and they determined that the gnats are a fungus gnat..duh. They could spray but that would be only a temp fix. I was needing to find the source..duh again.
My wife has sprayed a fortune of bug spray to try to control the pesty lil beasts.
They are found mostly at my 6 ft window in my living room but are also in every room.
I have no plants in my house, take out my garbage often, and keep the fruit in my fridge.
I crawled my attic and found nothing.
I am completely stumped with the gnats, especially with all what we have done.
Any more suggestions that I can do?
