I heat by wood and for the past 15 years have stacked the split wood on the porch, and after that is filled, then it all goes into the wood shelter for drying. This year I suddenly discovered fine dust on the floor and on the wood. On the logs it looks like tiny dust pyramids. I do not see ants. I do not see any insects. Last night I saw one black ant and killed it. I don't know if it was a carpenter ant. What ever has invested the wood on the porch, has also invested the wood shelter. Do you have any ideas Would your product work? I would like to try the honey/boric acid solution, but have cats and dogs and am concerned for them. I am 72 and can't crawl under the house (damp) as easily as a few years ago.

We live in a rental unit and I hate depending on the management to fix simple issues for which they will take time. I do not wish to use chemicals around my lil kids and ecosmart seems to have the answer. We have had many visits from little black ants and a few carpenter ants too even though our unit has been recently renovated. I just hope we are not living with a colony !

Hi Sonia,

If you've never seen any live ants, the problem could already be gone. If, after clean up, you are constantly noticing more dead ants, you can try spraying EcoSMART Ant and Roach Killer around the areas in which you usually find them.

Best of luck!

I recently bought a fixer upper house built in 1987. I have seen dead ants and sawdust in the living area but never see any live ants anywhere in the house. I assume they are carpenter ants but I don't know of any water source anywhere near where they must be nesting. How can I kill them if they never come out?

We have been battling carpenter ants all summer. (particularly one of the bathrooms/shower.) The huge black winged ones. We had a pest control guy out and he sprayed inside the house and also put stuff outside. We still have a problem. He said the spray would not harm us or our cat but for about 5 weeks, we noticed our cat had some neurological twitching that she had never had before. I noticed some burning in my lungs and eyes and lips when he first sprayed and when I would be close to the walls where he sprayed even though they had dryed. I do not want him to spray again even though we are still seeing these huge ants - not as many, but we still find them inside the house. I would love to find a product that actually works to get rid of carpenter ants and won't harm my cat or us humans. I do not know exactly how they are getting in so information on how to find that out would be greatly appreciated. (Our pest control guy was not much help in that area.)

A couple of years ago we were staying in a cheap mobile home of a friends for the summer and had the worst ant problem I have ever heard of. When we pulled a piece of wall we saw that the entire walls were filled with various ants. I found out the previous owners had dumped pesticides with no avail. I mixed a bottle of honey with about 1/8 C borax or boric acid and dripped it along the perimeter of the house. You want to draw them out not in. Our ant problem was gone within 3 days. We found out that if you add a drop of Bella Mira orange essential oil they really cant resist it. I also for good measure fill a spray bottle and add 1 tbsp salt and borax along with Bella Mira Peppermint and Marigold essential oil. I spray this along all ceiling and floor wall boarders yearly. Yes this does work on all sweet loving ants. By the way you can get rid of roaches with cheap canned cat food and boric acid or nutrasweet the same way,
