However, over the years many different home remedies have sprung up, each dealing with the wasp sting in different and useful ways.
This article will discuss the following home wasp sting remedies:

Toothpaste

  • After removing the stinger, applying toothpaste is one of the easiest methods of home removal
  • Apply the toothpaste directly to the area where you were stung
  • Toothpaste for bee stings helps to dry out the venom of the stinger
  • Since toothpaste is an alkaline substance, it helps neutralize acidic venom

Onions

  • After taking out the stinger, cut an onion in half
  • Rub the cut onion on the stinger site
  • In approximately 5 minutes the swelling, discoloration, and pain should go away
  • Onions have antibacterial properties, hence why they help to remove the effects of the venom

Papaya

  • After getting rid of the stinger, cut a piece of papaya
  • Rub some papaya on the affected area
  • Papaya contains papain that acts like meat tenderizer
  • It breaks down the proteins that the stinger’s venom is made up of

Honey

  • Remove the stinger as soon as possible, apply honey
  • Provides faster healing and temporary pain relief
  • Honey has antibacterial properties, including hydrogen peroxide
  • There is evidence that honey from bees speeds the healing of wounds, thus healing where you got stung

Penny

  • Quickly remove the stinger, grab a penny
  • Hold the penny to where you were stung for 15 minutes
  • The copper from the penny is said to help counteract the pain and itch
  • Remove the penny if the itching gets any worse

Vinegar

  • Take out the stinger, make a paste of baking soda and vinegar
  • Add equal portions of vinegar, baking soda, and meat tenderizer
  • Apply to the affected area and leave it on as long as needed
  • Vinegar neutralizes the venom, while the other parts help to relieve any discomfort

My wife is allergic to any type of bee or wasp sting. She has had much success with a home remedy I did not see listed here. It is Clove. Make a paste of ground cloves and water aplly to sting, the sooner the better, allow to dry reapply if neccessary. The clove pulls the venom out and completely removes the sting and other reactions when used immediately. My wife even found it worked when she was out of her epi-pen while I drove her to the hospital. She did not need treatment by the type we got there, but this was probally a miracle. I am not suggesting relying on it if you are severely allergic like my wife but it helps.
