Watch Out For Those Pesky Flying Cockroaches
December 26th, 2009 Posted in Ants & Roaches
Cockroaches are already a nuisance in many homes, but the fact that they can sometimes fly makes them an outright menace. At the first sign of a free meal a cockroach will come running.

They can quickly mass in large numbers and take over your home if you aren’t careful. Since certain species have the ability to fly, it makes them that much more of a problem in your home and on your property.
This article will discuss:
Habits Of The Flying Cockroach
There are many different species of flying cockroaches, but all share many of the same behaviors. Most flying cockroaches fly during the day only if they are ever disturbed. They normally just walk around in a search for food, but if they are bothered they will immediately take flight.

The Asian cockroach exhibits this behavior most often because it searches for food in wooded areas, where it is quite common for them to get bothered. At dusk adult flying cockroaches are most active. The climb trees, buildings, or anything else high enough to take flight from.
They are most attracted to bright lights, just like many other species of bugs. A lighted opening or window will quickly allure dozens of flying cockroaches. This is all it takes for flying cockroaches to be attracted to your home and then attempt to get inside. Once inside, they will again move to the brightest source of light (probably your TV or one of your lights) and crawl in or around it.
