I live in extreme southeastern New Mexico. We have had an unusual amount of rain this year. I put a piece of pecan wood down in the yard several feet from any structure, in other words, it was out in the open sunlight. That was 8 days ago. It is covered with termites the piece of wood is about 14 inch diameter and 10 inches long. I started looking at other wood pieces around the yard and they all have been caked with dirtlike material entierly. This is the first time in 30 years I have lived here this has happened. Can't poison them, since they are coming up every where. What is causing this severe activity?

Dear Richard,

EcoSMART's Home Pest Control spray is great for indoor or outdoor pest problems, like termites.

If the infestation has become too large, you may need to contact a professional to do a more through extermination. Make sure to ask if they use organic commercial products, like those listed here.
