The mosquito not only feeds on you, but often targets your pets as well. Protecting you family and your pets from the threat of the mosquito is important to ensure they live fulfilled lives.

The mosquito’s life cycle is very short compared to the lives of people and humans, but in comparison to other insects they often live fairly long lives. They go from egg, to larva, to pupa and then finally end up as a full grown adult mosquito. The mosquito requires water to complete its life cycle because during each stage it is submerged.

The water they use can be anything from snow to sewage, which means the mosquito is never really limited in terms of where it can lay its eggs. Each species of mosquito requires different things of the environment around them, but for the most part they aren’t too picky.

The feeding habits of the mosquito depend on a variety of environmental cues. A mosquitoes feeding habits are a combination of smell, heat and visual stimuli. The female mosquito is the only one to drink blood because she requires the feeding to lay her eggs.

The male mosquito doesn’t feed on people or animals for blood. The female mosquito will normally feed until their abdomen is completely full. The mosquito feeds mostly at night or at dusk because they prefer the cooler temperatures.

Humans and animals (like the dog) often produce chemical signatures that emanate from their bodies. These signatures alongside environmental cues draw in mosquitoes to feed.

Dogs are often one of the more affected species of pets because they also expel chemical cues that attract mosquitoes. Their are 20 different species of mosquitoes that often feed on dogs and give them the heart worm.

The Asian tiger mosquito is one of the deadliest species of mosquitoes to bite a dog because their bite often results in giving your dog worms. The mosquito menace can hamper your dogs life and your families, which is one of the reasons why organic control is so important.

Using conventional means of control (like chemical pesticides) can severely hurt the standard of living for you and your dog. Its been proven that dogs and people can be drastically poisoned by chemical pesticides if exposed to it for long periods of time.
