The Advantages Of Organic Garden Pesticide
March 15th, 2010 Posted in Organic & Chemical Pesticides
If you take the time to set up and maintain a garden, it’s more than likely you’re interested in protecting your garden as well.

Organic pesticides are the best answer for continued protection from insects and weeds, but why? It is important to understand why organic pesticides are the right choice for all your gardening needs.
This article will discuss the 3 advantages of organic garden pesticides:
Advantage #1: It’s Effective
Organic pesticides are just as strong as other forms of insect and weed control. The only difference between chemical pesticides and organic pesticides is the fact that organic pesticides are made from naturally occurring ingredients, which do not harm innocent bystanders while eliminating weeds and pesky insects.
These natural ingredients that are natural insect killers include fruit based oils and extracts, rosemary oils, clove oils, and cinnamon oils (just to name a few).
Your garden can come under attack from wasps, ants, spiders, crickets, fungus, and other harmful insects or weeds, which means there is a lot working against your garden. Therefore, choosing the right control method (like organic pest control) is extremely vital.
Advantage #2: It’s Safe
Using safe pesticides is an important way to protect your garden from pests, but not negatively affect them at the same time. EcoSMART and other brands of organic pesticides only target pests not innocent bystanders. For instance, EcoSMART’s organic wasp killer targets the octopamine receptor (an insect’s version of adrenaline) in insects.

The natural botanical pesticide blocks these receptors causing the insect to die. This is the reason why organic, botanical pesticides are safe. Animals, plants, and people do not have these same receptors, which makes this pesticide harmless for use around them. The natural ingredients (like rosemary and clove) are harmless for your family, not to mention your pets and the environment as well.
The Environmental Protection Agency identifies EcoSMART’s organic pesticides as “Minimum-Risk”, which qualifies all of their organic products as exempt from any level of classification. Basically, organic pesticides are so harmless they do not require a warning label of any kind from the EPA, unlike the labels harmful chemical pesticides are often required to have.
Advantage #3: It’s Affordable
Typically organic products (like organic food) are more expensive then conventional items, but this is no longer the case when it comes to affordable organic pesticides. With technology becoming more and more advance everyday, natural resources are becoming more easily accessible.
Most organic products are more expensive because the demand within the market isn’t high enough to balance out the costs that went into making the organic item. But, with products like EcoSMART’s organic weed killer the demand is high and the prices are typically extremely affordable for a family’s budget.

I’ve never heard of this before. I’m going to have to look into it more, it’s very interesting. My parents used sagebrush as a natural mosquito repellent when I was growing up, but that’s the only natural thing I’ve ever used.
