Which Pet Gecko Should I Get To Kill Roaches?
Getting a pet gecko, and letting it run around your house to take care of your roach problem, is something many homeowners already do.

Geckos are natural predators to cockroaches, and will hunt them down without you even noticing.
…But which gecko is the best natural roach killer?
When choosing your pet, pick a gecko with toe-pads and without eyelids.
Tokay Gecko
This gecko is the 2nd largest of the species. Native to rainforest trees and cliffs, this large gecko also adapts to rural human habitations.

At night it will crawl on your walls and ceilings in search of roaches.
Caution: When this natural roach killer bites, it bites. A Tokay Gecko will clamp down and not let go for a few minutes or longer.
If your Tokay Gecko won’t let go, encourage it to by:
- Submerging the animal in water
- Trying to settle it down, don’t scream and flail because this will scare it more
- Putting a drop of vinegar on its nose
Mediterranean House Gecko
This gecko may be a more convenient pet, because it’s smaller and doesn’t cast such a nasty bite.

A Mediterranean House Gecko loves to hunt and eat:
- Roaches
- Moths
This little critter will hide in cracks and unseen areas during the day, and will hunt at night…you won’t even know it’s there.
Getting a gecko could take care of your roach problem, but remember that after the job is done, you must take care of it as a pet.
Gecko Care
Get an terrarium of appropriate size and make sure you:
- Regulate the temperature with the right amount of heat, light and humidity
- Clean your pet’s living space
- Provide basic needs (water, food etc.)

If your aren’t too keen on letting a gecko run free range throughout your home, there is another natural roach killer that’s worth the investment.

I love the Gecko idea, thought he wife hates it! I’m willing to try the EcoSMART product. I’ve tried lots of different stuff and can’t find anything to get rid of the german cockroaches.

Hmm..if I’d known that, I wouldn’t have asked hubby to chase out cute Mr. Gecko after he slipped in under the front door! The roaches and ants both seem to come when its the hottest outside, so I’m guessing they’re on a hunt for water..
