Baking Soda and Apple Cider Vinegar: Organic Pesticides
When it comes to killing bugs, a natural way is always best.
Opting to take out pests by using an organic pesticide recipe, rather than a synthetic chemically-based one, is a smart idea if you’d like to keep your family, pets and the environment safe.

Did you know that you can make your own organic pesticides by using common household items?
Baking soda, for example, is a great natural substance that will be sure to take out nasty cockroaches.
Make it: “Someone Poisoned the Water-Hole!”
You’ll need:
- A small container with a top
- Baking soda
- Sugar
- Water
1. Stir Things Up at the O.K. Corral
Mix equal parts baking soda and sugar in a small container.
2. Shake it!
Make sure to shake this mixture until it’s evenly mixed.
Then sprinkle around where roaches are usually spotted, like cabinets and behind appliances.
3. Watering Hole
Pour some water in a small container, and set it next to the mixture.
After the roaches eat the mixture, they’ll get thirsty and take a sip of the nearby water.
This will cause a reaction making the baking soda work as a gas, and therefore killing the roach.

Besides baking soda, apple cider vinegar could be a great organic pesticide to take out pesky gnats.
Make it: “High Dive of Death Gnat Trap”
You’ll need:
- Soda bottle (2 or 3 liter)
- Sharp knife
- Organic apple cider vinegar
- Sugar
- Water
1. Before Getting Into The Pool, Rinse First
Take the soda bottle, and wash it out with soap and water.
2. No Running! (with this tool)
Using a sharp knife, carefully cut the top of the soda bottle off.
For best results, cut about 2 in. from the top.
3. Fill Up The Pool
Fill the bottom of the bottle with:
- 1/2 c. organic apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 c. sugar
- Enough water to to fill the bottle 1/2 full
Make sure not to fill the bottom of the bottle the whole way.
4. Flip It Off the Diving Board
Flip the cut-off bottle top upside down, and place it inverted into the bottom.
Tape the inverted top to secure.
The gnats will be attracted to the scent, dive in and drown with no escape, or no lifeguards.

When you’re done using these ingredients as all natural pesticides, why not try using them for all-natural hygiene?
Baking Soda and Apple Cider Vinegar: Shampoo and Conditioner
Even though shampoo and conditioner weren’t used until the 20th century, they are now daily (and expensive) cosmetic staples in showers across the world.
When you’re done using these hygienic bottles as microphones for a 7 a.m. concert, have you ever read the ingredients on the back?

Containing questionable additives, some major shampoo and conditioner companies pack their commercial products with dangerous toxins.
Some of these toxins strip away your body’s natural oils, and therefore cause your scalp to over-produce oil in compensation.
Using all-natural remedies for hair care will restore balance in your scalp, and can:
- Save you money
- Save the planet
- Save your health
1. Make Natural Shampoo With Baking Soda
When baking soda mixes with water, a foaming reaction happens causing bubbles.
When massaged in circles onto the scalp, this reaction will:
- Stimulate blood flow
- Clean pores
- Get rid of built up grime

To make this shampoo, you’ll need:
- A bottle (an old shampoo bottle works best)
- Baking Soda
- Water
Make it:
- Mix 1tbs. of baking soda per every cup of water
- Shake the mixture in the bottle
Make sure to shake your shampoo before each use, in order to cause the “bubbling” reaction.
You only need to use this baking soda shampoo when your hair feels dirty, maybe about 2x/week.
2. Make Natural Conditioner
The use of vinegar for cosmetic purposes can be traced back to Ancient Roman times, and was also fashionable in 19th century as vinegar de toilette.
To make this conditioner, you’ll need:
- A bottle
- Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
- Water

Make it:
- Stir 1tbs. of apple cider vinegar per every cup of water
- Shake to mix up contents
This natural conditioner will counteract the baking soda process, by closing clean cuticles, inhibiting dirt, grime and oil to instantly seep back in.
When the cuticles are closed, hair will also de-tangle, because it will be able to slide easier.
Don’t worry about the vinegar smell, because it will cease after you rinse thoroughly.
Note: If you’ve been using conventional shampoo and conditioner your whole life, this natural way may take some time to work to its full potential, because your body is used to over-producing oils.
However, in short time your body will reach its balance, and your hair should be Fabiolous.
With these methods, personal hygiene can be as helpful to your health and the environment as are the organic pesticides you choose to use.
Taking a stand against synthetic chemically-based products is not only safe, but also noble— a character quality of Puss in Boots.
Synthetic chemically-based products should fear us… if they dare.
