Dallas- Day 2
Jul 31, 2011Dallas- Day 2
Today was the grand finale of our Summer Safe Spray tour! We got up earlier than usual to make sure we made it to a really cool farmers market we had heard about the other day. This was a smaller European style farmers market on McKinny called The Four Season’s Farmers Market.
There was a white tent set up with about twenty different tables with all kinds of local goods. There was wine tasting, honey sticks, homemade soaps and lotions, and lots of goodies made only miles away. This was a place where small home businesses got a chance to meet with their market. We gave samples, surveys, and feedback as we tasted and rated different treats. A two man band began to play just as we headed for the next market.
The Dallas Farmers Market on Pearl Street had been amazing the day before but everyone said we had to come back today. They were right. The market was packed! Yesterday we strolled from building to building and chatted with the vendors and shoppers. Today we could barely walk down the isles or hear each other over the sea of voices. Despite the heat, the crowd was in a cheerful mood as shop owners greeted us and food vendors remembered us.
We spent the day between the outdoor market and the wonderful retreat of the air conditioned indoor market. It has been one of the most memorable journeys around the US and we had mixed emotions as we walked away from our very last farmer’s market of the tour. On the ride home we retold our favorite stories from different states as we remembered all the adventures we’d had and the wonderful people we had met.
