Phoenix – Day 2
Jul 18, 2011Phoenix – Day 2
We started our second day in Phoenix at 8:30 in the morning and it was hotter than hot before we even knew what happened. We headed to the valley to the Wigwam Farmer’s Market.
Mara made a beeline for the first coffee tent she saw. They just happened to be one of only creme brûlée vendors in United States. They sat back as they watched our faces while we tried their signature Carmel creme brûlée. It was one of the most magnificent things I’ve ever tasted. They use a special ingredient that makes it way more than your typical dessert. You have to try it for yourself, Torched Goodness www.torchedgoodness.com. You can thank me later.
I found relief at an unexpected event, a presentation by World Worlds Zoo. The zookeeper brought out a baby alligator, albino hedgehog, baby birds of prey, and a blue eyed skunk. The children’s eyes got wide and they watched in amazement as they learned about the different animals being introduced to them. I spoke with the zookeeper after the presentation and she was ecstatic to try the samples and share them with her coworkers since they are completely safe around animals.
I helped the young woman carry the travel cases of small animals to her van. We jumped in the Jeep and headed to the afternoon Diamondback’s game as fans gathered to watch if they would beat the Dodgers as they did last night. The vendors were happy to see us and we were fortunate enough to find a spot that was partially shaded. I couldn’t stop smiling as ever person that took a sample made a point to say thank you.
Our last stop was a big event at Jobing.com stadium. They were hosting a Pro Skateboarding competition. There were thousands of people inside and outside visiting the different expositions. We made friends quickly and were given free tickets to get inside and watch the shows. We enjoyed the air conditioning and the awesome tricks performed by pro skaters. It was fun to take pictures and pass out samples since everyone seemed to be so happy to be there.
